Call for Papers
The deadline for abstract submission has been reached.
Papers will undergo a peer review process, and will be accepted on the understanding that the main author or co-author will personally attend the conference and present the paper. Please note there will be no reduced registration fee for authors.
PLEASE NOTE: Your paper will be excluded should your registration fee not be received by the 31 January 2010.
WORKSHOPS
Space has been allowed for a limited number of workshops. These need to be motivated, and will be allocated on a basis of breadth of appeal to delegates (reasonable numbers), and on a first come/first served basis. Persons intending to organize a workshop should contact the organizers giving the subject of the workshop and the expected numbers who will attend. The workshops will be open to conference delegates only.
THE FWR AWARD
The Foundation for Water Research, based in the UK, will once again sponsor an award for the best paper at the WISA biennial conference written and presented by a young (under thirty at the time of the conference) Southern African engineer or scientist working or studying in the water and related environmental field. The prize includes a financial reward. The full details and criteria for the award will be published in the final announcement. When submitting your online abstract, please indicate if you wish to be considered for this award.
The Presenter, being the Principal Author, will be under thirty in April 2010.
WISA MWD 2010 Student Award
The WISA MWD announces that they will once again award a R15 000 prize to a bona fide full-time student who delivers the best paper in relation to the field of mine water management at the upcoming WISA 2010 conference.
The WISA MWD would like to encourage all bona fide full-time students in the field of mine water management to register to present a paper at the WISA 2010 conference to qualify for this WISA MWD 2010 Student Award.
The candidate should demonstrate up-to-date knowledge of their chosen field of research, a good understanding of the methods of research, an ability to interpret data, present the data in a scientific manner, and to discuss the data in context of the available literature.
The evaluation of the student papers will be conducted by more than one assessor. The presentation of the papers is a very important component and aspects such as presentation & media, oral communication, background and methods, results and discussion, conclusions and recommendations will play a role in the allocation of the award.
