Umgeni Water is a Water Services Provider, established in 1974 to supply potable water in bulk to municipalities within its operational area. Its customers are eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality; Msunduzi Metropolitan Municipality and Ugu, Ilembe, Sisonke, uMgungundlovu and Sisonke District Municipalities. Umgeni Water concluded a successful financial year on 30th June 2009, having contributed significantly to good public health through the provision of safe drinking water, and socio-economic development through the provision of household and school sanitation and the rehabilitation of school structures. The organisation is poised to continue playing an important role through the implementation of its mandate.
